What is Best for Baby Too?

The Best for Baby Too (B4B2) Collaborative is a partnership of GPs, other health professionals and community groups working together to provide a holistic approach to health and wellbeing across Liverpool. It is a practical new resource to support mums and mums-to-be, helping them access extra information and support before and after the birth of their child, so that their child has the best possible start in life.

B4B2: find out more

The period from when a baby is conceived until they are 12 months old is known as the ‘perinatal’ period – babies experience rapid neurological growth and physical development during this time. It’s a critical time for parents, families and babies to connect and communicate, and B4B2 provides information and support from healthcare professionals and social prescribers, addressing a range of worries from finances and isolation to childcare and confidence.

ABOUT B4B2

What is an ‘improvement collaborative’?

An improvement collaborative provides a structured and supportive invitation to work together to achieve a shared purpose.

It aims to create motivation for change – generating challenge and support within the Collaborative Community to address health inequalities and improve the quality of our services and the experience of our service users and workforce.

It invites and connects people with professional and personal experience or interest to come together and collaborate across organisational boundaries. This makes the system visible; helps us learn from each other; share how and why our services work as they do and understand the consequences of this from multiple perspectives.

It builds understanding, relationships and trust – welcoming ideas for improvement and encouraging exploration and testing of ideas. It is a place to share data and information that show whether the changes we are making have resulted in the improvements we seek.

It provides a welcoming and safe space to ask, share, celebrate and commiserate, fail, fail better, grow and learn together.

Supporting mother and baby relationships

“All parents want the best start in life for their children, so we owe it to all our mums and their babies to make it as easy for them as possible – which is what social prescribing is all about.”
